Persian Shiraz Carpet

Description of Design and History

This magnificent Shiraz salon carpet Woven by the Qashgai tribal federation of the south-west Persian province of FARS, This one of the most handsome and impressive unusual in major respects examples of their weaving from the early part of this century that I have seen. The palette is typical, as is the dense scattering of stylized floral motifs over every area of the blue field however, the vertical continuous Nice brown diamond zig – zag containing three conjoined diamond medallions. On the sky blue areas are many stylized animals whilst in the diamonds are almost festive geometric flower heads. A very attractive tribal weaving in excellent condition which would make a delightful addition to any contemporary interior. This example is a typical south west Persian tribal design.
